Christian DiStefano is a board certified acupuncturist licensed in New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island. He is a graduate of SUNY Geneseo and the prestigious Tri-State College of Acupuncture in New York. He became interested in acupuncture after witnessing some of what he now recognizes as the everyday miracles that one gets to witness and experience in an acupuncture practice.

He entered the field with the philosophy that there is an innate healer in everyone, and the job of the acupuncturist is to find and awaken this healer. During his time practicing he has found this to be true. Perhaps the greatest reward in practice is treating a person that has nearly given up hope of help, and helping that person find the way to heal. He continues to be fascinated by the fact that insertion of ultrathin needles in one part of the body bring health, and relief to a distal extremity or organ.

The rigorous training at the Tri-State college requires mastery of 3 styles of acupuncture. Acupuncture Physical Medicine is a style developed by the founder of the school using meridian theory combined with the trigger point work of the late Dr. Janet Travell. Kiiko Matsumoto style acupuncture is an eclectic Japanese style acupuncture that incorporates the works of several Japanese masters of acupuncture, as well as a Japanese interpretation of 5 element theory. TCM is traditional Chinese Medicine. This is the most common style. It is the primary style practice in China today.

Chris has also takes extensive continuing education classes in acupuncture while practicing. His mastery of many different styles gives him depth of treatment. If one style is not producing immediate results, he will switch to another. One method, in particular, dry needling, is a technique Chris has had monumental success. Dry needling is based on Western anatomical principles and is extremely effective at relaxing overstimulated muscles which contain trigger points.

Jenny Eskrett MS, Lic. Ac. Jenny is a 2003 graduate of Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York City, where she completed a rigorous four-year master’s program in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She practiced acupuncture in a private setting in Nantucket, MA for 10 years before moving back to New York to be closer to her family. Her private practice on Nantucket focused on promoting the individuals’ physical and emotional well-being and addressing a wide range of medical conditions including digestive, respiratory, urinary, menstrual and reproductive disorders.

Jenny experienced firsthand the benefits of Chinese medicine at an early age. Diagnosed with severe atopic dermatitis, she was referred from one western medicine physician to another until she met a doctor in Japan who integrated Chinese medicine with western medicine. It was through a combination of various holistic practitioners and western medicine that she saw a drastic improvement in her skin and Jenny has a special interest in women’s health issues including problems associated with menstrual cycles, uro-genital complaints, infertility, and support during peri and post menopause. Frequent yeast infections and urinary tract infections, irregular menstrual cycles or very heavy bleeding due to fibroids, pms, difficulty conceiving, hot flashes and night sweats accompanying menopause are just a few complaints that can be addressed with her particular acupuncture techniques. Over the years, Jenny has seen how effective acupuncture is for issues common in women.

Jacqueline Torian graduated from Manhattanville College in 2007 with her B.A in Creative Writing, but realized shortly thereafter her drive was to help others in the field of holistic nutrition. This took her to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City, where she was certified as a Holistic Health Counselor in 2012. She is extremely excited about implementing Nutrition Response Testing and will be training to become a practitioner to work alongside and assist Chris in helping patients reach their health and wellness goals.
